The Rotary Club of Cedar Park today announced the 3rd Rotary Student Talent Show set for March 13, 2015.  This special event is a fund raiser for the club and provides support for its many local and international service projects and funds grants to other non-profits in their work to better our world.

The 1st Student Talent Show in March of 2012 provided funding for:

  • A grant to Boy Scout Troop 271 in Cedar Park, to help them purchase a trailer.
  • A grant to the Twin Lakes Family YMCA to help support programs for community youth.
  • A grant to support the work of Libraries of Love
  • A grant to assist Samaritan Health Ministries with some badly needed repairs and remodeling at their Cedar Park clinic.
  • A grant to send high school students to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp (a leadership development program held over a week in July)

The club also supports the PolioPlus Program, a joint effort of the Rotary Foundation, the World Health Organization and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate wild polio throughout the world.

The talent show is in two divisions: The Junior Division is for students in K through 6th grades.  The Senior Division is for students in 7th through 12th grades. 

Auditions will be held the evenings of February 24 through February 26th, 6:30 PM, in the Little Theatre at Leander High School.  The top ten acts from each Division will move on to the finals, with a Dress Rehearsal on March12th and the Finals on Friday, March 13th in the Auditorium of the Tom Tew Performing Arts Center at Leander High School.

Competition rules and application forms will be available for download at www.cedarparkrotary.org beginning Monday, January 5, 2015.  There is a nominal $10 application fee per act.
