Yes, Rotary District 5870 is responding to the needs of victims from Hurricane Harvey.
For those families in Rotary Districts 5910, 5930, 5890, 5870 and 5840, who were impacted in any way by Hurricane Harvey, this tragedy is akin to a death in the family. Immediately after such a tragedy, you are surrounded by friends and relatives. Volunteers and good Samaritans bring over needed food and supplies. Helpers and relatives arrive from afar with willing hands. Everyone strives to help "make it better" for you and express their condolences.
Then after a few days or weeks, out-of-town family members return to their homes. "Care" packages stop arriving. You are suddenly along again. But your losses, your sorrow, your needs, continue.
Rotary has a stellar reputation of handling funds and is considered one of the very top organizations to donate to because of the integrity and actions of Rotarians. As a District, we wanted to be able to collect and send funds directly to the Club’s in the communities affected. These Clubs are the “Center of Service” in each of their communities and 100% of the funds donated will go directly to those clubs that need support during the recovery in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath. Areas currently in need of Recovery Funds: Rockport, Beaumont, La Grange, Port Aransas, Cuero, Victoria & Houston Metro.

The Rotary Club of La Grange is raising money to help with the impact of the flooding in La Grange. Their initial concentration will be to help children who are starting school with school supplies, clothing and shoes and then helping displaced families with basic needs for the families. To donate:

They had passes for the IMAX at Bob Bullock and Austin Parks and Pizza. They were treated to a fabulous BBQ meal with all the trimmings at County Line on the Lake. Thaddeus said he was so excited about the weekend because it was his first day off in three weeks.
