May Message From District Governor

To Rotarians of District 5870 Central Texas:

Foundation:
We had a pretty good April.  We moved up a few spots and are now in 3rd place from previous years. We have now contributed over $494,000 to TRF ytd! For first timer PHF’s, if you have not already contributed or taken advantage of the Jerry Johnson trust matching funds, please consider doing so as we are going for 100% district participation. We are asking every Rotarian in the district to help us achieve 100% participation in the 100th year – meaning, we are asking every Rotarian in District 5870 to contribute something (preferably $25 but anything will be appreciated) to the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund between now and June 30th.  We’ve never done that before, reach 100% giving.  We only have 1 month left in this Centennial Foundation year. With your help, we can have a great year end push. Please consider a contribution by following the steps below:

Our 100th Anniversary
This year – 2017 – marks the 100th Anniversary of our Foundation, and we need your help to celebrate this anniversary in a big way.
The best we’ve ever done is 87.5%.  This is definitely the year to make that magic happen!

UPDATE:  As of May 30, we are only at 71.9%.  If you haven’t contributed to the Annual Fund yet this year, we urgently need your help to reach this goal.

Swinging Time At Rotary Bandstand

Rotary Bandstand was held at the Sun City Ballroom on Saturday, June 3.  This was an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Rotary Club of Georgetown-Sun City that benefits the youth of Williamson County.  CBS Austin celebrity, Chikage Windler, once again was the Emcee at this event and she, and a few others, were decked out in their “poodle skirts”.  A fun time was had by all and the monies raised will be put to great causes by the Sun City Rotary. SPC David Floyd got to treat his wife and one year old daughter to a fun filled weekend in Austin thanks to the sponsors of Operation Vacation. The Rotary Clubs of Killeen and Austin set up a complimentary weekend at The W Hotel with all the trimmings for the family  through the Hotel Lodging Association and the County Line on the Hill gave the family the royal treatment on Saturday night for a dinner set for a king.
