Check your refrigerator before you shop and only buy what you will eat. If food goes to the landfill and rots, it produces methane. Methane is the second most abundant greenhouse gas, after carbon dioxide. Though it breaks down more quickly, methane traps 80 times more heat than carbon dioxide, making it a major contributor to climate change. Methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, is emitted from landfills, resulting from the decaying of organic waste over time under anaerobic conditions.

We Rotarians can make a big difference together doing easy and difficult things. Many times doing less is doing more for the environment! Please raise awareness by sharing the monthly idea on your club’s web site, newsletter, social media and announcements at meetings. This is service above self!
