Although 6:45am rolls around early to arrive to help at El Buen Samaritano Food Pantry, members of the Austin-Southwest Rotary saw clients’ cars already in line waiting for the parking lot grocery box delivery to open at 8:00am.
El Buen Samaritano serves south Austin. This food pantry hands out food boxes twice a week to 150-180 families each delivery day. Club members helped fill boxes with a variety of fresh vegetables, a protein, cheeses, baked goods and pre-made meals; loaded boxes into the trunks of clients’ vehicles as they drove through; broke down boxes for recycle and helped with clean-up at the pantry.

A goal has been set this year by this Club to sponsor some type of service project each month especially since we are not meeting for our noon meeting in person yet. These projects are outdoors and socially distanced with appropriate mask wear for safety.

When the shift was over at the food pantry, members said they felt like they had started their day off right! Service Above Self.
