One of the most impactful tools in the Rotary Club of Georgetown’s fight against human trafficking is its Human Trafficking Awareness (HTA) Mobile Unit—a powerful, on-the-road resource designed to educate, inform, and spark meaningful conversations in our community and beyond.
The mobile unit allows local Rotary clubs, nonprofits, and community organizations to bring human trafficking awareness directly to their meetings and events. Inside, visitors learn to recognize the signs of trafficking, understand how it affects communities locally and nationally, and discover how everyday citizens can help prevent exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals.

A key figure behind the wheel of this important mission is Rotarian Carl Alaniz, a valued member of Georgetown Rotary and the HTA Committee. Carl serves as the primary driver of the mobile unit, a role he is uniquely suited for thanks to his extensive experience driving 60-foot rigs during his service in the U.S. Air Force. His professionalism, steady presence, and commitment ensure the unit arrives safely and ready to serve wherever it is needed. The club is deeply grateful for Carl’s dedication and reliability—he truly is the perfect man for the job.

Recently, the HTA Mobile Unit was visited by Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), highlighting the importance of public awareness and collaboration in addressing human trafficking. Moments like these underscore the reach and credibility of the program, as well as Rotary’s role in leading meaningful community engagement.

Here in Georgetown, the HTA initiative works closely with trusted local partners, including the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, and nonprofit organizations such as Key to Free. These partnerships strengthen the collective effort to educate, support survivors, and prevent trafficking before it starts.

The HTA Mobile Unit is available for use by other Rotary clubs and nonprofit organizations interested in hosting it at meetings, community events, or educational gatherings.

Those interested can visit the Rotary Club of Georgetown’s website to learn more and request scheduling 1 information.

Through education, partnership, and dedicated Rotarians like Carl, the HTA Mobile Unit continues to make a lasting impact—bringing awareness where it matters most and helping protect families across our communities.
