One of our Rotary Club of Austin’s most cherished community projects is our R&R free weekends for our military families from Ft. Cavazos Killeen. Every month the base selected a soldier for this special gift arranged by the Rotary Clubs of Austin and Killeen and the hospitality industry.
The soldier and his family received a two night stay at one of our Austin hotel sponsors. They also get a free car for Toyota Killeen and gas money arranged by Rotary Killeen. Once they arrived at Hyatt Place Lake Travis, they received a bag of goodies from Rotary Club with gift cards, gifts, toys , snacks and much more. This weekend gives the soldier quality time with his spouse or family with no duties or stress.
SPC James Brians and wife Raven were coming up on their first year of marriage and never had a honeymoon so what better time than Christmas season to visit Austin and celebrate that union. They love animals, arcades and outdoor activities so we gave them tickets to the Austin Aquarium and Austin Parks to celebrate and Austin’s weather was perfect. Thanks Rotary for showing our military we care and thank them for their service.
