Greetings, Rotarians! The Club and District Installation ceremony on June 24th began what will be a remarkable Rotary year. It was an event filled with excitement and camaraderie as we set out on a journey to Create Hope in the World. I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the Rotarians who attended, making it a truly memorable occasion.
Before we embark on the new Rotary Year 2023-2024, I would like to congratulate Past District Governor Shannon, her district leadership team, our club Presidents, and all Rotarians for their extraordinary efforts in imagining Rotary in 2022-2023. Your hard work and dedication have led to a successful year. Well done! As we transition from "Imagine Rotary" to "Create Hope in the World," let us build upon our achievements and work together to achieve continuity in our goals and objectives.
Collaboration is the key to sustaining continuity. I urge each of you to expand on the collaboration opportunities initiated last year. Let's explore new avenues for clubs to collaborate on service projects, social events, and other events. Together, we can magnify our impact and bring about positive change.
In the year ahead, I encourage you to embrace the principles of Know, Grow, and Go:
1. Know: Take the opportunity to deepen your understanding of Rotary. Familiarize yourselves with the rich history and culture of our beloved organization. Educate your clubs about Rotary International, your District, club history, and the invaluable work we do.
2. Grow: We must continue to focus on retaining our members through active engagement. When recruiting new individuals, let us seek those who will become dedicated Rotarians, not just mere members. Let us continue our tradition of supporting the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation, as it is the lifeblood that fuels our local and global service. Additionally, let us uphold our commitment to Polio Plus in accordance with your club's traditions.
3. Go: Engage in our communities and do what we do best—serve! While serving, let us share our good works, as Public Image is a powerful tool for recruiting like-minded individuals who can contribute to our cause.
In line with Rotary International President Gordon McInally's call to action, mental health will be a major initiative for us this year (and beyond). We will conduct a Mental Health Matters campaign, aiming to end the stigma surrounding mental health, raise awareness, and provide access to mental health resources. As part of this initiative, the District project during my official visit will involve packing homeless care kits for distribution in your communities.
I invite you all to mark your calendars for three major events this year. Join us for Rotary Night at the Ballpark on September 16th, 2023, at Dell Diamond. Let's come together to recognize our support of The Rotary Foundation at our annual Gala on January 20th, 2024, at the Sheraton Austin Georgetown. And finally, our Conference of Clubs in Killeen from May 3-5, 2024, will be a Salute to Service, featuring various activities at Fort Cavazos (formerly known as Fort Hood).
Thank you for your unwavering dedication to our communities, clubs, District, and Rotary International. It is a privilege to serve alongside each one of you. Let us go forth and Create Hope in the World. Together, we have the power to make a meaningful impact. Your contributions matter, and your commitment inspires others to follow in our footsteps.
