As we turn our focus to this month's theme—environmental sustainability—we are reminded of our collective responsibility to safeguard the planet for future generations. At the core of Rotary's mission is the spirit of service, and embracing environmental stewardship is essential in fulfilling this mission.

Rotary's Global Environmental Efforts
Rotary International has long recognized the pressing need for environmental action. With initiatives spanning from water conservation to biodiversity protection, Rotary clubs worldwide are making a tangible difference. A standout example is the Adopt-a-River Initiative, which brings together clubs across continents to safeguard vital waterways through clean-up drives and pollution prevention strategies. In another inspiring project, clubs in Africa have collaborated to reforest degraded lands, contributing to the global effort to combat climate change.

Engaging Our Community
We believe that everyone can play a part in protecting the environment. Simple actions like reducing plastic use, conserving energy, and supporting local recycling programs can have a significant impact when adopted widely.

Looking Ahead
As we continue to cultivate a greener future, our district is committed to launching new projects aimed at promoting environmental health and sustainability. We invite all members and community members to contribute ideas and energy to further these efforts.

Conclusion
The challenge of environmental sustainability is immense, but so is the potential for positive change. As Rotarians, we have the power to lead by example and inspire others to join us in our quest to protect our planet. Let us continue to work together towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world for all.

Empowering Change Through Contribution
District 5870 is driving significant impact through two incredible opportunities supporting the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund-SHARE.
The Annual Fund Per Capita Contest is one such opportunity, offering a 5-night, 6-day stay at We've Gone Coastal Cozumel to the club with the highest per capita increase over last year. This prize can be used as a raffle incentive, a fundraiser booster, or a special club reward, promoting a healthy spirit of competition and generosity.

Additionally, the PDG Jim Robinson Memorial Points Match is open through April 30, providing a 1-to-1 match on contributions between $250 and $500. This is a fantastic way for Rotarians to achieve their next Paul Harris Fellow level while doubling the impact of their donations.

With 85 Rotarians from 22 clubs already contributing $39, 288 these initiatives are strengthening our funding capacities for DAP Grants, CTE scholarships, global grants, and global grant scholarships slated for 2027-28. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in our ongoing mission of service and sustainability.
