Rotary District 5870 has awarded its first Keyway Fund grant to aid Burnet County families recovering from July’s devastating floods. This week, District Governor Todd Smith committed $10,000 to The Ark of the Highland Lakes, a faith-based nonprofit providing essential support to more than 400 flood-impacted families in the area.
While much of July’s media coverage focused on flooding in Kerrville, the destruction in Burnet County was equally severe, leaving many residents with damaged homes, lost belongings, and ongoing financial strain.
In response, Rotary Clubs in Burnet, Marble Falls, Marble Falls Daybreak, and the Texas Hill Country Passport Club are joining forces to host a community fundraiser on Saturday, August 24, with proceeds going directly to local flood relief efforts.
“Rotary is about service above self, and when our neighbors are hurting, we act,” said District Governor Todd Smith. “This grant is just the beginning—our hope is to rally the entire community to bring hope and help where it’s needed most.”
The August 24 fundraiser will include food, silent auction, live auction and music from Gary P Nunn along with Marble Falls own John Arthur Martinez. offering residents a way to come together, show support, and make a difference.
