Each club was challenged at the beginning of this Rotary year to do an Environmental project and the year is closing soon. If your club has not yet done a project, this month is a great time to plant a native tree.

If every club planted an oak tree we would have a Rotary Oak forest in Central Texas! The only things that matter is that it is native and where someone can and will water for at least a year or two. One tree anywhere sequesters carbon and cleans the are for everyone- Service above self!! So if you can’t find a public place for a tree just have a raffle and give it to a Rotarian who can care for it. That counts for the environment!

This is how we as Rotarians make a difference. It may be planting a tree and the little things like Reduce, Reuse and Recycle as a set of practices. Plastic is a huge problem and is CO2! The production of plastic emits greenhouse gases at every stage, from the extraction of oil and gas to the manufacturing of the plastic itself plus it is polluting our oceans.
