In the early 1960’s, Rotary International urged Rotary Clubs to find ways to encourage service among youth, foster their active interest in the community and offer opportunities for them to develop as leaders.
The very first Interact Club was formed in 1962 at Melbourne High School in Melbourne Florida.  Now, Rotarians were not just helping youth but empowering them to serve locally and internationally with their Rotary Club sponsors.

The Interact Club of Giddings High School was formed in 2003 under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Giddings.  Since that time, this Club has participated in numerous community service activities and international projects.  The 2020-2021 Club had 54 members and recently received the Outstanding Youth Organization of the Year Award at the Giddings Chamber Banquet.

The Rotary Club advisor is Lisa Noack and the school faculty advisor was Carol Kieschnick during the 2020-2021 year. Carol retired after the 2020-2021 school year and Dawn Marshall has sense taken on the position as faculty advisor.

This past school year was very challenging, however, with the support of the Giddings Independent School District administration and Principal, Chad Rood at the High School, the club was able to participate in many community activities as well as their major fundraiser.

Some of the activities include:

1) Assisted the Lee County Veteran’s Association with their Chicken Spaghetti lunch fundraiser.
2) Helped the Rotary Club with their Golf Tournament Fundraiser
3) Worked with “Wreaths Across America” to mark graves and place wreaths in the Giddings Cemetery.
4) Assisted the Rotary Club with their annual Pancake supper at the Giddings Elementary School by selling the vast majority of the tickets, assembled the to-go plates, and transported plates to the outside line.
5) Moved, set up chairs, and helped clean up for the Veteran’s Park Memorial Wall dedication
6) Participated in a “Financial Responsibility” Education program.
7) Nominated & chose (but not able to send) 2 students, Jacob Marshall & Lacy Marburger for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.
8) Held a fundraiser and sold plants donated by Altman Plants.  The leftover flowers and plants were donated and planted at Bec’s Blessing, Oakland Manor, and Giddings Residence & Rehabilitation.
9) Part of the fundraiser money was awarded in scholarships to 4 students of GHS Interact students in the amount of $500 each.
