Methane is the primary contributor to the formation of ground level ozone, a hazardous air pollutant and greenhouse gas, exposure to which causes 1 million premature deaths every year.
Methane is also a powerful greenhouse gas. Over a 20-year period, it is 80 times more potent at warming than carbon. The largest sources of methane are agriculture, fossil fuels, and decomposition of landfill waste.
We Rotarians can make a big difference together doing easy and difficult things. Many times doing less is doing more for the environment! Please raise awareness by sharing the monthly idea on your club’s web site, newsletter, social media and announcements at meetings. This is service above self!
