With great enthusiasm and a strong sense of purpose, I assume the role of Scouting liaison for District 5870. First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Jon Yates for his dedicated and successful tenure as the previous liaison. His contributions have left a lasting impact on our Scouting community.
As we embark on a new Rotary year, I am excited to share a few initiatives we plan to focus on over the next year:
  • We aim to strengthen the bond between Rotary International, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., recognizing these organizations as ideal partners for empowering youth and fostering global citizenship. Through the Cliff Dochterman Award presentations, we aim to honor outstanding Rotarians for their exceptional dedication to Scouting.
  • Additionally, we will raise awareness for the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), promoting international opportunities that inspire cultural understanding and friendship.
  • Lastly, we seek to raise funds to support international Scouters' participation in the International Camp Staff Program, providing life-changing experiences that shape future leaders.

I encourage each of you to participate in our Scouting initiatives, as your support is invaluable. Don't hesitate to contact me at michael_files@yahoo.com or 619.245.8651 to share your ideas or contribute to these initiatives.

Together, we shall make this a transformative and purposeful year for the betterment of Scouting and our communities.

Yours in Scouting and Service,
Michael Files
