Rockdale Rotary has joined forces with Rockdale Chamber of Commerce for the past few years to provide fans to our residents in need. Until this year, the Chamber was the driving force behind the project
This year our club stepped up and took the reigns. The project, formerly known as Rockdale Fan Drive, was renamed Project Cool by our 2024/25 President Gaye Bland.

The commitee for this service project was Barbara McWhirter, Angie Clampitt and Sandy Langwell (Service
Projects Co-Chair). These ladies had posters printed that were hung in local business and further
promoted through radio and newspaper ads. Flyers were given out at the local senior citizens center and by our very own Mike Vance during his volunteer time at the food pantry.

Former fan drives have resulted in the collection of 40-50. Due to the generosity of club members and the community in general, we collected 113 box fans!

On July 1 and 2 club members Homer Mowdy, Tiffany Whitsel, Mark Langwell, Sandy Langwell, Matt Langwell, Gaye Bland, Barbara McWhirter, Cheyenne Babb and Leslie Davidson distributed the fans to 113 residents. That week our heat index was over 100 degrees. Many recipients were desperate and so very grateful.

Much was learned this year and changes are already being considered to make next year's project bigger and better, spreading into surrounding communities.
