Bastrop Rotarians and friends delivered and installed more than 30 beds over one weekend in November! They superbly illustrated our motto “Rotarians in Action!”
Partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, some Austin-area Rotary Clubs, and other Bastrop-area collaborators, Bastrop Club put 32 kids in their own beds for the Holidays. Funding for the bunk beds was provided from several sources, including a Community Impact Grant from local non-profit, Bastrop County Cares, plus the Club’s District 5870 “rebate” (DAP grant) from the Club’s own Foundation giving.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nationwide charitable organization whose sole goal is to provide beds for needy young people. Through donations and volunteer support, no family ever pays a fee for the beds provided. The Club also provides all the linens, pillows and covers required for each bed. Bastrop County families without enough actual beds for the kids in their family can apply through a Rotarian-supported website.

Bastrop Rotary has now sponsored two “builds” (manufacturing the pieces required to construct the beds), and completed delivery and installation of all the 40+ beds that were built. Bastrop plans on sponsoring the installation of another 30 beds in 2026
