When school started at Pecan Springs, there were two new teachers who came all the way from Columbia, Africa but arrived with nothing to start their year of teaching except an empty apartment and a portable blowup mattress. The staff at the school spread the word to my Rotary club, the Rotary Club of Austin who sponsors many of the events and support for that school and we spread the word through our members about what the teachers needed to make their empty apartment a home.

Within hours, donations of kitchen accessories, blankets, pillows and such started pouring in and Rotarians went to pick up and deliver these items to the teachers. As Rotary does, the word spread even further to the University Club, Cosmo and NXNE which brought even more items and by the end of two weeks the teachers had almost all the necessities they needed to make their apartment feel like a home away from their home after a long day of teaching. Thank you Rotarians for showing these two Columbian teachers how Rotary makes a difference all over the world and right here in Austin.
