The Rotary Club of Austin hosted a thank you lunch for the counselors and children at the Helping Hand Home of Austin, a treatment facility for severely abused children who have been removed from their homes. The children receive psychiatric treatment as well as schooling to get them ready for a new ”forever” happy home.

The Rotary Club also does a Splash Day in the summer with water slides and an outdoor cookout! And during the Fall,  the club gives funds to the counselors to help the children pick out gifts they would like to find under their Christmas tree.  In December the Rotary members come to the home to celebrate with the children and Santa. Many of these children have never had  a Christmas. They sing Christmas carols and each child gets to visit with Santa and receive presents. The real joy comes when they open them and they are actually what they wanted. It is so much fun for our members to share these priceless moments with these special children. The Rotary Club of Austin has supported the Helping Hand Home for over one hundred making a difference in their community.
