The Rotary Clubs of Austin and Killeen hosted the Mercado military family from Ft. Cavazos for a special R&R weekend in Austin as a thank you for SPC Mercado’s military service. Thanks to our sponsor Stephen F. Austin for the Grand Sonesta they enjoyed being in the center of downtown Austin for a complimentary two-night stay and took advantage of exploring the beauty of our city.
The kids loved our museums and parks, and Saturday night dinner was hosted by our sponsor County Line on the Hill with all the BBQ they could handle. The Rotary Clubs of Killeen arranged a free rent car from Toyota and gave them gas money. Our club, the Rotary Clubs of Austin packed new backpacks for every member of the family with Austin gifts, T shirts and clothes, toys, stuffed animals, snacks, and fast-food gift cards for the weekend. We appreciate our military.
