Rotary E-Club of Central Texas gave away 520 Virginia Pine Tree seedlings as an effort to help save our world.  Club members gave Virginia Pine seedlings to anyone who would care for them at locations in Austin and Bastrop.
“We want to make a difference in the world for our children and grandchildren,” Club President Joan Bohls said, “and protecting the environment is one of the very best and necessary ways to do that.”

Trees serve as an indicator for the health of the air and the world around us, Bohls said.

And, according to the Arbor Day Foundation, “As trees grow, they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. Trees provide many benefits to us, every day. They offer cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities.”

“We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Bastrop County and the Smithville Garden Club for their partnership in the distribution,” Bohls added.
