Rotary Club of Hillsboro in noon meeting Wednesday, October 2 presented former Rotary Club President Russell Keelin with a certificate and pin marking his induction as a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Paul Harris was a Chicago attorney who founded the Rotary Club in 1905 with the motto of “Service Above Self.”
Rotary established the Paul Harris Fellow in 1957 to recognize contributions to the Rotary Foundation, and since its inception more than 1million Rotarians have been inducted into the Fellowship. Keelin is Assistant Librarian at Hillsboro City Library, is an officer in HHS Ex Students Association, serves on Hill County Museum board, is active on Hillsboro’s Historic Preservation Commission and Hillsboro Heritage League Board, and is organist/pianist at First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro.
