Jeff Coleman Selected District Governor 2026-27
It is with honor and privilege to officially declare Jeff Coleman, from the Rotary Club of Pflugerville, our District Governor-Designate. Jeff will become District Governor-Nominee on July 1, 2024 and serve as our Governor in the 2026-27 Rotary year. Please congratulate Jeff and thank him for his continuing contributions to the growth and strength of District 5870, and wish him well in the new chapter of his Rotary leadership.
District Career Technical Education Scholarships
District 5870 will be sponsoring seven District CTE Scholarships for the 2024-25 Rotary Year. Scholarships will support CTE students who live in one of the 23 counties that comprise District 5870 and are planning to study credit or non-credit career technical education and training programs, not requiring a 4-year degree, at a community college or technical school located in one of these 23 counties or an adjacent county.

Make Your Rotary Club Sexy
As Rotary Clubs, we are always looking for the silver bullet that attracts new members and helps to keep our present membership engaged with our Club initiatives and meetings.  We have written, discussed and met to see who has the best idea on ensuring membership growth … even if it is only +1. 
Brown Santa Volunteers
On Saturday, November 18th, six NxNE Austin Rotarians helped wrap presents for Brown Santa, a program run by the Travis County Sheriff's office that provides Christmas presents to families in Austin that are in need. They all enjoyed selecting and wrapping presents for children and families. 
Sharing Mental Health Awareness 
At the Flatonia Rotary meeting on 16 November, the guest speaker, LaDonna Boyd, the Regional Director for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, gave a presentation on the vast services that Bluebonnet performs for 8+ counties. She provided pamphlets and rack cards for the club to share at the Fall For Flatonia event on the 18th.
Flatonia Rotary Sponsors City Christmas Tree
On Sunday, 26 November Rotarians, Stu Mica, Bernie Satterwhite, and Pat Satterwhite selected, purchased, and set up the City of Flatonia Christmas Tree in the park next to the Gazebo. On Monday, 27 November, Rotarians, Larry Haas, Bernie Satterwhite, Kristine Schaffner, and Pat Satterwhite decorated the tree with lights and ornaments.

Shiner Rotary Helps Spread Christmas Cheer
The Rotary Club of Shiner made a donation to Anna’s Angels. Anna’s Angels is a local group run by high students who collect toys and money for local families and spread Christmas cheer throughout our community. The Rotary Club of Shiner has been a long time sponsor of this wonderful group!

Rotary Club of Westlake Participates in Wonderfest
The Rotary Club of Westlake participated in the Westlake Chamber of Commerce’s Wonderfest on December 3, 2023. The Club introduced the Westlake community to its various local and international service projects, as well as raised over $1000.00 for its annual educator of the year award. Most importantly, a good time was had by all!
Art at Heart of Taylor Rotary Christmas 
Members of the Taylor Rotary Club joined in holiday festivities at the Dec. 2 Taylor Christmas Parade and holiday fair. Lead by President Ryan Stiba, Rotarians help local children decorate more than 165 ornaments.
Killeen Heights Rotary: Donating 1000 pairs of Socks
In a heartwarming display of community service and generosity, the Killeen-Heights Rotary Club has recently embarked on a remarkable initiative, showcasing the spirit of giving back by donating over 1000 pairs of socks to school children in the local area. This noble endeavor has not only brought warmth to young feet but has also symbolized the collective effort of a community dedicated to supporting its youngest members.
December 2023 Operation Vacation
One of our Rotary Club of Austin’s  most cherished community projects is our R&R free weekends for our military families from Ft. Cavazos Killeen. Every month the base selected a soldier for this special gift arranged by the Rotary Clubs of Austin and Killeen and the hospitality industry. 
South Austin Rotary Club Takes Action: Empowering Men Through November Clothing Drive
In a powerful display of community support, the South Austin Rotary Club orchestrated a dynamic clothing drive throughout the entire month of November. The mission? To rally behind the Men's Clothes Closet, a vital ministry of the United Methodist Men of Austin.
Christmas Cards Make the Holiday a Bit More Special
Writing and sending Christmas greeting cards is a heartfelt tradition all over the world. In Marlin, the Rotary Club takes this tradition seriously and, on December 13th, composed personal messages in Christmas cards and enclosed an ornament from local shop Dragonfly in each card for residents of Golden Years Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Caldwell Rotary Club Partners with Local Boys and Girls Club
The Rotary Club of Caldwell along with the children of the Boys and Girls Club of Caldwell joined together to create and share Christmas greetings cards this month for the residents of two local nursing homes. Club President, Lia Zaccagnino, was able to deliver the many sweet cards that the after school program helped organize and the children designed. 
Rotary Gifts Books to Children
On Thursday, December 14, 2023, 571 books were delivered to Marlin Elementary School for children in Daycare, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, First, and Second grades. An additional 70 books were delivered to young students in Chilton.
Rotary Christmas Store 
On Tuesday Dec 19th, the Marble Falls noon Rotary club held a Christmas store giving event at the Granite Mesa Health Center. The Health Center provides short term rehabilitation and long term care. 
Rotary Club of Marlin Perform Carols
In Marlin, the Wednesday before Christmas is set aside for a long-standing tradition of singing Christmas carols. Amidst the flurry of events, shopping, socials, and work, eight Rotary Club of Marlin members gathered to sweetly tender classical Christmas hymns.
