The Rotary Club of South Austin was recently recognized by RecognizeGood for their continued dedication to making a difference in the community. The club received a $1,000 donation and a Certificate of Appreciation in honor of the positive impact their members have created through hands-on service and local partnerships.
It truly felt like Christmas in September at the Rotary Club of Burnet’s 6th Annual ScholarshipNight for Kids, benefitting the Hill Country Community Foundation. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our sponsors, donors, and guests, the evening raised over $94,000 to help fund scholarships for graduating Burnet High School seniors.
The Rotary Club of Austin had a team of walkers for the Austin Out of Darkness Walk October 25 at St. Edward’s to bring awareness for suicide prevention. The club also had three other members who made a donation for the cause since they could not walk.
The Bastrop Club manufactured the pieces and parts for 33 new bunk beds on Saturday, October 25. They were joined by at least three other Rotary Clubs, representatives of Bastrop County Cares, friends, family members, and a student service group from the University of Texas. This team partnered with the nonprofit organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, which supports the construction of needed beds all over the United States.
In October, the Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest celebrated its two-year anniversary hosting a booth to collect un-recyclable Styrofoam from the community and taking it to the City of Austin Recycle/Reuse Center. To achieve one of the objectives of Rotary International (to protect the environment), our Club saw a need to assist Austin citizens in transporting Styrofoam to the Recycle/Reuse Center.
BAYLOR ROTARACT CLUB held their first ever event - Pies for Polio this past week! Supported by the Lake Brazos Rotary Club Waco and the Waco Rotary Club, Baylor Rotaract raised $300 for Polio Plus. Assistant Governor K, Paul Holt received the biggest pie of the day!!
The Killeen Heights Rotary Club recently completed a DAP Grant Project that brought tangible improvements to two vital community resources: the Families in Crisis Domestic Violence Shelter and the Homeless Shelter, both located in downtown Killeen.

Bastrop Rotarians delivered the goods to Mina Elementary School staff and teachers on Friday, September 26. As a Community Partner with Bastrop ISD, the Club has “adopted” Mina Elementary, providing support to teachers, staff, and students throughout the year in a variety of ways. This delivery included snacks and school supplies for the Teachers’ Workroom.
At the 30 October meeting, Rotarian Stu Mica settled a friendly wager with fellow Rotarian Patricia Satterwhite—a $100 bet on whose Czhili would reign supreme at Czhilispiel! The winner’s share was destined for Rotary’s Polio Plus campaign.
