On November 1, we kick off our first District Wide Project with the presentation of $10,000 to the Central Texas Food Bank. I encourage each of you individually as well as a club to go out and serve in your local food pantry throughout the holiday season.

District 5870 has been recognized for its outstanding support of the Rotary Foundation in Zone 25B. Rotarians in our district are generous supporters of our Foundation. It is your generous support that funds our outreach to do good in our local communities and beyond; Global Grants, DAP Grants; and Scholarships.
The Whiteclay Arts Makerspace was cosponsored by Districts 5930 and 5870 in late Rotary year 19-20 and after some COVID delays , the grand opening was this month. Several Native American artists from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota have been working in the facility for several months and the participation ramp up is going well as is the international marketing on the project’s website.

The Rotary Club of Central Texas had a successful mobile food drive on October 20 in Austin. Members and Several Rotary clubs, neighbors and friends brought food and stayed to visited in lawn chairs under trees. It became a party as the truck was filled and taken to St Luis food pantry.
The Rotary Club of Austin did a Wishlist Collection Drive for Safe Place in Austin on Sat. Oct. 23 and we collected about $1800 worth of baby items, kitchen equipment, sports equipment, cleaning products, bedding and gift cards. This was a fun and safe project for our members to help our community.
South Austin Club members gathered at Todos Juntos Learning Center this month to continue our work for creating a safe outdoor learning space and play area at Todos Juntos Learning Center in South Austin. They built a sandbox, installed sun coverings a new slide and painted crosswalks.
Our club kicked off Polio Plus with a Back to School and New Member Social in August at Bear King Brewing in Marble Falls! We held an “Arm and a Leg” ticket purchase to have a “CHANCE TO WIN” half the collection!
An E-Club is a full-fledged regular Rotary Club. We have a board and officers. We support the foundation, have local and global service projects, believe in the 4 way test, participate on the district level, and meet regularly.
