After more than nine months of recruiting, the new Texas Hill Country Rotary Passport Club acquired the necessary number of charter members (20-plus). We had 22 total charter members in our application) when we submitted it to Rotary International two weeks ago. We have been greatly assisted in this process by the leadership of the recently chartered North Austin Metro Rotary Passport Club (first Passport club in the district) and District Governor Rick Stacy and Monique Hodges, Corsicana Rotary, both of them members of the District 5870 New Membership Task Force.
The Rotary Club of Taylor on April 9 was a huge success. Thanks to organizing Rotarians Ryan Stiba and Austin Brown, the Club has more money to spend on its Rotary Scholars Banquet, scholarships and community projects.
The Rotary Club of Bastrop County plans to host a BBQ Festival Event in on Sep 3-5, 2021. This includes a “sanctioned BBQ competition, fundraising, Fun, and Information event” with goals of having a major event in Bastrop, raising funds (primarily for local organizations and projects), fun, and information activities.
Flatonia President Larry Haas and President-Elect Gerald Freytag, on Thursday. April 22 removed the old roof and decking, replaced rotted supports and replaced old facia with hardie board siding. The City of Flatonia pool storage building will be another service project that will help the community.

Twenty-one high school seniors in McLennan County are being recognized for their volunteerism and service in the 41th annual Youth Citizenship Awards sponsored by the Rotary Club of Waco and the Tribune-Herald. The students are usually honored at a spring luncheon held by the Rotary Club, but for the second year COVID-19 is limiting recognition to a socially distanced award presentation. They will be recognized at a drive-thru reception Monday at the Lions Den.
A first-of-its-kind traveling exhibit showcasing the ultimate sacrifice of military and first responders who’ve died from wounds in the War on Terror since September 11, 2001 until today was at the Marlin City Park Pavilion on Thursday, April 29th through Wednesday, May 5th.
After the Rotary Club of Austin heard from Alan Graham, the founder of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Community First, our club learned that the residents love to watch DVDs so our club purchased a variety of movies to donate to the Community First lending library.
Dignitaries and Rotarians from around the area joined in the party on Saturday, May 1, to celebrate the Rotary Club of Taylor’s first 100 years in the community.
On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, the Caldwell Rotary Club and the Texas A&M College of Veterinary of Medicine worked collaboratively to offer a free rabies clinic. The event was held at the Burleson County Fairgrounds from 3pm to 7pm. 80+ dogs and cats from the community were vaccinated at no cost to the owner.
