Every year, Rotary members around the world mobilize for World Polio Day. We raise awareness of polio and gather support for our global effort to make sure that every child is protected from it. By staying tenacious, hopeful, and committed, we will make history by making polio the second human disease ever to be eradicated.
Several months back, we introduced The Art of Retention. Retention will always be a topic of conversation and debate for membership-based organizations. There is no right way, or wrong way. The “silver bullet” may work for one, and not the other.

This award honors Rotarians who support both organizations.

Rotary E-Club of Central Texas has partnered with the non-profit, Libraries of Love, to provide playground equipment for a primary school in Uganda. This school has children who are blind as well as those with sight. They also have many orphans and needy children. The children are thrilled with their new playground.
The Rotary Club of Cedar Park-Leander has recently installed two park benches. One, funded through a District 5870 grant, is now in Leander’s Devine Lake Park. The second bench, purchased with club funds, is located at the Twin Lakes Family YMCA is Cedar Park.
In a heartwarming display of community spirit and dedication to a noble cause, members of the South Austin Rotary Club recently joined forces with Doodle Dandy Rescue, an organization committed to rescuing and rehoming doodles and other deserving dogs. Together, they organized a fundraiser that not only raised funds but also created a ripple of goodwill within the community.
This summer has been a hot one, with temperatures breaking records most days. Urban areas can experience significantly higher temperatures than the rural surroundings. These “heat islands” intensify energy demand, worsen pollution, and pose health risks. Two major causes of this phenomena include urban material properties and reduced natural landscapes in cities.
Rotary Club of Austin Southwest is super excited about our Styrofoam project, and you should be too! We will collect clean, dry Styrofoam to take to the City of Austin's Recycle & Reuse Drop-off Center on behalf of the community.
The Rotary Club of Temple will be making donations of $10,000 each to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and Feed My Sheep, both of Bell County. CASA helps with foster children and Feed My Sheep helps homeless with food, place to sleep, and consulting.
The Rotary Club of Round Rock recently held its first in-person fundraiser since Covid shut the world down, and it was a roaring success! The two-part event held at the Old Settlers Association on September 15th and 16th included the inaugural 1st Annual Round Rock BBQ Cook Off, sanctioned by the Lone Star Barbeque Society, and the Club’s 1st Annual BBQ Thing.
DG Bob Crouch is at the Dell Diamond on Rotary night in Round Rock with his wife Colleen! District 5870 was well represented with the members of several clubs and a good time was had by all.
