Rolling Fork Tornado - Rotary on the Ground

March Membership Madness

As we approach the last quarter of the Rotary year, we have our current “Imagine Rotary” Rotary International Presidential theme for the current year and theme “Create Hope in the World” for the upcoming ‘23-24 year.  Take a moment to think about these two themes. “Imagine Rotary” has been a mental exercise in encouraging us to consider what we want our clubs and organization to be like in the future. The upcoming theme, "Create Hope in the World”, allows us to move from imagination to action by developing a plan that results in "doing".

Ramp Build in Travis County
On March 4th, Rotary Club of Austin Southwest members joined with Texas Ramp Project Austin and the Rotary Club of South Austin to build a much need wheelchair ramp. We were happy to pay for the supplies out of funds raised by our golf tournament & pitch in with the work!

Bastrop County Builds Bike Racks for City
The Rotary Club of Bastrop County has provided the City of Bastrop with six unique bike racks as a “public service project”.  These bike racks support City goals including a friendly walkable/bikeable community for residents and visitors.

Books For Me
Members from the Rotary Club of Austin helped all students at Pecan Springs in Austin  pick out two books that they get to take home to add to their home library. This project is one of ROTARY’s favorite events because the students are so proud of their books with their name inside. Thanks Rotary!

Tarleton College Visit
The Rotary Club of Temple made one of its many college visits in March to the beautiful campus of Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. This was a first time trip for many of the Buckholts' Seniors and Juniors. They enjoyed a 3 hour tour around the campus learning about the many benefits of attending attending a smaller D1 University. This was the first step for these kids to receiving a scholarship from the Rotary Club of Temple.
Community Gardens Project to Feed the Hungry
The Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest recently worked at El Buen Samaritano to get their community gardens ready for planting.  This project is part of their DAP grant and included the purchase of soil, fertilizer, water hose, rainwater containers, tools, seeds.  The yield from the community garden provides produce for the food pantry with 19 production plots. Additionally there are 17 community plots.

Flatonia Rotary Annual Pints For Polio
Flatonia Rotary members are taking action to raise awareness, funds, and support to end polio, a vaccine-preventable disease that still threatens children in parts of the world today.

Marlin Rotary: First Aid Kits for Kids
On March 24, 2023, at Marlin Elementary School, Rotary Club in Marlin joined hands with Nurse Judy and elementary school students’ mothers to help out in the area of children’s scrapes and cuts, because unintentional injuries can happen in the blink of an eye. Kids are most susceptible to injuries and accidents, on or off the school grounds. The Rotary Club presented School Nurse Judy with first aid kits to distribute to young students of Marlin Elementary School to take home.

D.A.P. GRANT Service Project
DAP Project was this past Saturday, March 25, 2023.
 
The Rotary Club of Marble Falls assembled New Residential Containers for the Highland Lakes Crisis Network - Transitional Housing Program. These boxes will contain cleaning supplies, kitchen towels, bath towels and other needed new home items such as pots & pan, silverware, and cooking utensils.
 
It is our hope that the families moving into their new home will be able to utilize their financial resources to help them sustain and maintain their new homes, instead of using their income on short term disposable items.
