This is one of our Club’s most anticipated events of the year and is slated for Friday, Dec 6 at our regular meeting venue, Balcones Country Club.
Throughout the week of Veterans Day (11/9 to 11/17), the Rotary Club of Georgetown held its 3rd annual “Field of Honor®: a Tribute to Service Above Self,” at San Gabriel Park.
The Lakeway/Lake Travis Rotary Club recently held a Car Raffle to raise money for their projects. Austinite John Jackson won the Mercedes! Funds raised by the club will go to support local scholarships, a water well project in Tanzania, ShelterBox, an Adoption Awareness event, and more.
South Austin Rotary members met in November to refurbish a clothes closet for a south Austin nonprofit that serves low income and homeless folks, as well as many recently released from prison. This was a project financed by the DAP grant.

The Rotary Club of Round Rock is looking forward to our Annual Christmas Luncheon on December 12th. Each year our club sponsors a Cottage at the Texas Baptist Children’s Home with a luncheon and gifts for the children & host parents. The luncheon also serves as an annual gathering of our membership to celebrate the Holiday Season and give thanks for our many blessings. Jean Nelle with the University Rotary Club volunteered to work with first graders at Pecan Springs to create science projects and experiments. What a fabulous experience for all.
The Rotary Club of Austin hosted a table at the Georgetown Field of Honors where veterans and first responders were recognized and told their stories. It was inspiring and such an incredible events for unsong heroes. I especially was moved not only by the hundreds of sponsored flags flying in the wind but by the new section which was for recognition of K9 heroes. I sponsored a K9 who died yesterday risking his life to save his unit from a shooter.I have a heavy heart for his handler who lost his best friend and hero!
Rotary Club of Hillsboro honors students from HHS and HJHS each month as Rotary Students of the Month. Faculty members select the students based on character, academic achievement and contributions through student activities.
Our Rotary District currently has 17 suspended Interact Clubs due to failure to report. Please don’t let this happen to you! It’s simple, but it’s an annual requirement.
An Interact adviser is any adult that has volunteered to serve as a contact to the Interact Club. While it is preferred that they be a member of the sponsoring Rotary club, they can also be a school administrator, faculty member, or community volunteer.
Rotary Club of Austin and Killeen hosted a military family on October 20-22 at the Hyatt Place North Austin. SGT 1st class Veronica Cruz and her two children Shawn (14) and Amalya (8) enjoyed complimentary meels and rooms at the hotel, a fabulous dinner at the County Line on the Lake and park passes for Austin Parks N Pizza.
