Serving as Treasurer of my Club for many years, I’ve had several new members, or their sponsors or friends, complain that they were not expecting the Club’s requests / expectations of them. For me, most of the time it related to fundraising for the Club’s community services projects or the Rotary Foundation. But this can extend to dues, attendance, Club involvement, etc. Unfortunately, my Club lost a few of these new members after their admission to the Club.

March through April, the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club held its Clean Out Your Closet Campaign collecting gently used handbags, totes, duffel bags, and shoes to benefit survivors of domestic violence, foster care youth, and microbusiness. In a heartwarming collaboration aimed at enhancing recreational opportunities for local schoolchildren, South Austin Rotary proudly announces the completion of a Gaga Pit at Sunset Elementary School. This endeavor was made possible through a partnership with the Girl Scout Troop 1984.
The Rotary Club of Austin awarded 21 college & vocational scholarships to very smart and well deserving seniors from high school in and around Austin to a total of $80,000. The students’ stories were shared today at our Rotary Scholarship event and many of them will be the first member of their family to receive a college education.

Rotary E Club of Central Texas, led by Juanita and Juan Lira, have created two peace gardens in Nuevo Laredo at two schools this month to give a sense of dignity and peace to the student body as well as a beautiful natural oasis to give a peaceful place to visit. This was provided with our club DAP Funds.
