When one endeavors to participate in service, they experience a number of benefits. Serving others generates, a stronger sense of purpose and elevated meaning in life, improved mental and physical well-being and increased emotional intelligence, formation of higher developed and more resilient social bonds, and an increased sense of meaningfulness to name just a few.
Over the next ten months, I want to take you to some very special places (via pictures) that are near and dear to Rotary and to District 5870. Some I have truly visited and some, I will have visited by some magical feat of magic.
The Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest and the Rotary Club of South Austin and friends worked together in the heat this past week to build a wheelchair ramp for a disabled gentleman who desperately needed it to leave his home.
The Rotary Clubs of Austin and Killeen gave the Alvarado military family from Ft. Hood a complimentary weekend in Austin. The Killeen Rotary arranged a rent car through Toyota and gave the family spending money.

The Cameron Rotary Club met in downtown Cameron after work on June 3, to "clean up" the city. Seven teams brought their power washers to wash the sidewalks while it rained.

For the past seven years, Wilsonart, LLC (“Wilsonart”), the Temple Rotary Club, the Temple Public Library, the Temple Independent School District (“TISD”), and the Belton Independent School District (“BISD”) have literally been taking all of us to school.
Our only fundraiser this year for scholarships was a great success thanks to our Sponsors, club members , Adam Willmann our President and Donors! We gave out $18,000 in scholarships to seniors in Bosque County schools.
As part of an effort to advance the awareness for the needs of families within the Cedar Park Community, Reveal Resources Center in January 2020 began helping families meet their diaper needs, and in partnership with the Austin Diaper Bank receives 6,000 diapers a month to serve approximately 240 babies each month.
The Rotary Club of West Austin (RCWA) has traditionally (for probably at least two decades) done a major charitable activity each December called the Christmas Shopping Spree. Well, that was what we had hoped would happen this year, but the pandemic disrupted our event.
The Rotary Club of Marble Falls hosted an Electronics Recycling Fundraiser Thursday, June 17th thru Saturday, June 19th. We had a great turn out by the community who brought everything from mouses and monitors to cables and components to be boxes up and recycled.
We are delighted to announce that the meals from Rotary Club of Marlin and Rise Against Hunger Experience on 3/13/2021 have been shipped in a container totaling 285,120 meals from the Rise Against Hunger Houston warehouse.
