DG Jerry Chapman's December Message
Recently some of you have commented to me about the year nearing the mid-point and asked if the experience is what I anticipated. The year is exceeding my expectations. I have visited all the district clubs along with a satellite club and that early morning (6:30am) group from Pflugerville. Our clubs are truly making a difference in our local communities and globally. Let me share a couple of updates with you.

Ensuring Safety At St. Joseph School
The Rotary Club of Yoakum obtained a grant from Rotary International District 5870 to provide additional security measures for St. Joseph school students and faculty.  Each year the club has an opportunity to apply for grant money to benefit some facet of our Yoakum community.  Rotary Club President, Bill Lopez, presented a check to Principal Sean Mooney on November 9th.

Food For Families 2018 
On the Friday before Thanksgiving, volunteers from the Boy Scouts, H.E.B. Grocery Company, and area Rotary Clubs collect food in 9 counties.  Food For Families is the largest one-day food drive in Texas. This year they collected 317,000 pounds of food!

Temple's Annual Spaghetti Dinner
The Rotary Club of Temple recently conducted it’s 35th Annual Spaghetti Dinner on November 9, 2018.  Rotarian Jack Morris, who is 86 years young, has led the effort every year since its inception.

Thanksgiving is the perfect time to remember those that are special to us. The Rotary Club’s of Austin and Killeen in partnership with County Line and Austin Hotel Lodging Association entertained a delighting Army family from Ft. Hood with a very unique Thanksgiving.
