The Rotary Club of Austin-SW continues their environmental project, "A New Home for Styrofoam". The first Saturday of the month from 9am-1pm, Club members and volunteers staff the collection booth at the SFC Farmer's Market in South Austin.
They collect Styrofoam from the community to make it easier to take it to the City of Austin Recycle & Reuse Center. To date, over 500 lbs. of this material has been taken by the Club to be made into park benches, insulation, picture frames and for other reuse purposes. It takes 500 years for Styrofoam to break down and when it does it creates toxic products.
