On July 31, members of the Rotary Club of Austin traded their usual lunch meeting for safety goggles and sledgehammers as volunteers at Office Space Smash, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser hosted by ImageNet Consulting. The high-energy event invited participants to safely demolish outdated office equipment, turning stress relief into community impact while raising funds for Backpack Friends, a Central Texas nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood hunger.

Rotary members assisted throughout the event by welcoming participants, smashing electronics, helping with cleanup, and supporting operations wherever needed. Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, the event raised more than $2,000 in just two hours—enough to provide food for more than 500 local children who might otherwise have gone without. It was a memorable example of Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self, proving that sometimes making a difference starts with picking up a sledgehammer.
