As we approach October 24, we are reminded of one of Rotary’s most significant global health initiatives: the fight to end polio. World Polio Day is an occasion for reflection and a call to action. This day highlights our relentless efforts to eradicate polio and celebrates our progress towards a polio-free world.
Why World Polio Day Matters
World Polio Day brings global attention to the fight against polio, garnering support from communities, healthcare professionals, and partners worldwide. Rotary has played a pivotal role in the near-eradication of this crippling disease through its PolioPlus program, contributing over $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5 billion children globally.
However, our work isn't done yet. We must continue to raise awareness, generate support, and participate in activities that drive us closer to achieving a polio-free world.
