For the past forty-three years, Waco Rotary has honored students who excel in service in their schools and communities with a luncheon. Twenty-two Central Texas schools have an opportunity each year to nominate students for their Youth Citizenship Awards.
A committee uses the Rotary Club’s motto of “Service Above Self” in selecting five finalists. Those are interviewed in person by committee members. The winner receives a $4,000 scholarship while four finalists receive scholarships worth $2,000 each. The 2023 winner is Shiroz Kazani or Midway High School.
