The Rotary Clubs of Austin & Killeen along with the Hospitality Industry have found a way to honor a military Ft. Hood soldier every month for the last fifteen years. This family as part of Operation Vacation,Sgt. Ashley Prince, her military husband Harmer and their daughter, Aubrianna spent last weekend in Austin hosted by the Hilton Garden Inn Airport. Their meals were comped: gift bags with entertainment packages and snacks were delivered and County Line on the Hill provided them with an “all you can eat” BBQ dinner with all the trimmings. The family felt like royalty and knew they were truly appreciated. Thank a soldier!

Books for Me is a great program offering free books to students at Pecan Springs Austin. Our Rotary volunteers from Austin, University and EClub volunteer to help the librarian do arts and crafts with the students about animals and then they help the students pick out a book that becomes their “forever” home reader. This helps create a love for reading with the students and a community service opportunity for our volunteers.
The Rotary Clubs of Killeen and Austin have found ways to thank our military with special weekends at Austin hotels once a month to give the family quality time together in a fun place-Austin. This is through Operation Vacation Ft. Hood in partnership with Rotary, Hyatt Regency, County Line and Visit Austin. The Guico family spent a complimentary weekend @ the Hyatt Regency with all kinds of special services including a specially baked cake from the staff. The County Line on the Lake hosted their Saturday family style bbq dinner. Austin Rotary gave them passes to Austin Park n Pizza and Rotary Killeen arranged a rent car. It was a very special way to thank a soldier.
