World Polio Day is October 24, and now is the time to start planning how your club will get involved! District 5870 will be hosting a District-wide Polio Walk as part of the World’s Largest Polio Walk, and we want clubs across the district to join us in making an impact.

On June 25th, 2026, the Rotary Club of Caldwell held its annual banquet and award program at the Caldwell Civic Center. The goal of the evening was to come together to show community support for the law enforcement agencies in Burleson county.

On July 31, members of the Rotary Club of Austin traded their usual lunch meeting for safety goggles and sledgehammers as volunteers at Office Space Smash, a one-of-a-kind fundraiser hosted by ImageNet Consulting. The high-energy event invited participants to safely demolish outdated office equipment, turning stress relief into community impact while raising funds for Backpack Friends, a Central Texas nonprofit dedicated to fighting childhood hunger.

Members of the Rotary Club of Georgetown recently put Service Above Self into action at The Caring Place. Rotarians Eric, Raymond, Scott, Myra, and Ed, along with Ed’s wife, Evelyn, volunteered their time on July 14 and 21 to assemble and install new display units for the organization.

Members of the Killeen Heights Rotary Club recently traded their usual meeting attire for work gloves, safety glasses, and plenty of determination. Partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Rotarians rolled up their sleeves to build 20 beds for children in our community who deserve a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

The Rotary Club of Georgetown has found a meaningful way to make every weekly guest speaker part of something bigger. Last week, Executive Secretary Myra delivered more than 70 books to Annie Purl Elementary School—each one signed by one of our club’s guest speakers and donated to the school library for students to enjoy for years to come.

One of the service areas in which the Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest participates is Literacy. Streetbooks ATX is a unique literacy effort to provide books to the unhoused of Austin. With the help of a mobile book cart, Patrick Crowley, and his organization, Streetbooks ATX, goes to locations in the city where people are living with little access to books taking a wide variety of reading materials. These range from children’s books to Fiction and Non-Fiction.

The Killeen Heights Rotary Club is helping create a lasting reminder of peace and community connection in Gatesville with the installation of a Peace Pole and a new bench in an open area behind Gatesville ISD Intermediate School.

A new Rotary Youth Exchange adventure is underway for Charlie, who left yesterday for Taipei to begin his year as a Rotary Youth Exchange outbound student. As Charlie begins this exciting journey, he is also continuing a special family tradition. His father was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in the 1990s, spending his exchange year in Norway.

The Rotary Club of Austin came together this summer to help some of our community’s most vulnerable neighbors beat the Texas heat by raising $1,000 for the Family Eldercare Summer Fan Drive.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, the donation purchased 50 new fans that will provide life-saving relief to older adults and individuals with disabilities living in homes without adequate air conditioning.

For 11 years, Linda Tyler has been a proud member of the Rotary E‑Club of Central Texas, carrying Rotary’s spirit of service with her wherever she lives. In Tucson, Arizona, Linda volunteers with the Neighbor to Neighbor Program at the Voyager RV Resort—a community-based support network modeled on the Neighbors Care Alliance.

More than 90 Rotarians came together for 3 Pillars, a day designed around a simple but powerful idea: stronger clubs are built intentionally. Strong Rotary clubs don’t happen by accident. They are built when we focus on the things that connect people to Rotary, inspire them to serve, and help us tell the story of the difference we make.

SPC Luis Pomales, his wife, Zaychayry and daughters Evelyn(5) and Emily(2)were hosted by the Aiden Austin City Hotel on August 21-23 for an R&R special weekend arranged by the Rotary Club of Austin and Killeen.  Operation Vacation program is set up to show appreciation to our soldiers for their service. The Rotary Club of Killeen and Killeen Toyota provides the family with a rent car and gas money. The Rotary Club of Austin arrange backpacks full of treats, gifts, clothes, toys, snacks, drinks and fast Food gift card. The  families are selected by the base for one of these monthly weekends to spend quality time with their families. It also gives Rotary a chance to thank the soldiers.

The Rotary Club of Lakeway/Lake Travis is revving up for our annual Rotary Car Raffle — and this year, the prize is BIG! One lucky winner will get to choose between a 2026 GMC Pickup Truck or a 2026 Cadillac XT5 , thanks to their generous partners at Covert Bee Cave!

A big congratulations to the Rotary Club of Marble Falls for earning the District 5870 Public Image Rockstar Challenge banner! Led by Will Mitchell, 2025–2026 Public Image Chair, the club completed all six levels of the challenge, and didn’t stop there. They also completed Bonus Level 7, showing just how committed they are to sharing the Rotary story throughout their community.
