On Friday, 8 May 2026, The Rotary Club of Flatonia and the Junior Class at Flatonia High School, who are taking U.S. History, spent a full day of touring and entertainment at The National Mounted Warrior Museum, located near Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. The morning began with guided tours and interactive stations by Fort Hood servicemen and museum docents, learning about the Army’s mounted cavalry from horses to motorcycles to tanks to helicopters.
Georgetown Rotary members once again partnered with the Texas Ramp Project on May 2nd to help improve accessibility and independence for a local resident in Taylor through the construction of a wheelchair ramp. The 20-foot ramp build was led, as always, by Rotarian Larry Baird, who has been a member of the Georgetown Rotary Club for nearly 20 years and joined the Texas Ramp Project in 2012. Larry also serves as the Williamson County Project Coordinator for the organization and has helped lead countless ramp builds throughout the area over the years.
The Austin Rotary Club Foundation proudly awarded $96,500 in scholarships to Austin-area students through its annual scholarship program, continuing a longstanding tradition of investing in education, leadership, and the future of Central Texas. This year, 20 scholarships were awarded to students pursuing universities, community colleges, technical programs, and nursing pathways, with recipients representing a wide range of career goals including healthcare, engineering, education, entrepreneurship, and public service.
The Rotary Club of Georgetown recently celebrated the dedication of its 16th Peace Garden, this time at Village Elementary School. Led by Rotarian Joe, with tremendous support from fellow Rotarians Raymond and Barbara, the project brought together students, staff, and community members in a meaningful celebration centered on peace, service, and connection.
Members of the Killeen Heights Rotary Club recently came together for another hands-on service project, installing trellises in the local community garden to help support growing plants and improve the garden space for the community.
Rotary Youth Exchange has started running again after a few years of country shutdowns and DE certificating our District and the recertifying our district. Virginia Craig is our District Chair. She has two students going out this coming Fall; one is going to Japan and the other to Taiwan. As the name implies - exchange - Virginia needs to find two Host Clubs in our district and host families within the club. Both of the students from the respective countries have a good command of English.
The Rotary Club of Caldwell awarded scholarships to six Caldwell High School seniors this year. The recipients were: Kalan Groce, Kylie Vogler, Larissa Foster, Caden Zboril, Braxton Fritcher, and Sarah Boniol.
Through the support of Flatonia families and businesses, The Rotary Club of Flatonia is able to raise around $20,000 annually with their fundraisers to provide support to the comminity’s youth, one of them being scholarships.
This year RC of Flatonia awarded six “Service Above Self” scholarships, totalling $10,000, celebrating hard work, service, leadership, and character. These scholarships represent the Flatonia community’s belief in the future and in the potential of each student receiving an award. Congratulations to all six recipients, Melany Vargas, Gisselle Crayton, Abigail Aguillon, Mason Brammall, Mariana Rosas, and Lukas Gutierrez.
The Rotary Club of Austin-Southwest supplied building supplies and teamed up with Texas Ramp Project to help build a wheelchair ramp at a home on the outskirts of Austin recently. Qualifying applicants are provided with an extremely sturdy, up-to-code, wheelchair ramp for access to exit and enter their homes safely. The owner of this home had to have her wheelchair carried down steps to leave her house.
The Bastrop Club had the distinct honor of inducting three new members at one time last Tuesday. This is a record one-day number for the Club. All the new members are active business people in the community, and have already involved themselves in the Club's service and fundraising activities.
