What Polio Means To Me

Power In Our Connections

News Around The District
We don’t always see ourselves this way. We don’t talk much about being “peacemakers” even in times when people most desire peace. People want peace in their home, community, state, nation, or world. We long for it, but don’t usually see ourselves as the “peacemakers.” But it is true. That is who we are.

And being true goes way back to the deep understanding we have of our mission: The Mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.
The Rotary Club of Round Rock volunteered at the Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation Back to School Celebration.  The Celebration was attended by 13,000+ students and their families.  Rotarians served alongside 100’s of volunteers as well to ensure a successful start to the school year!
24 October is World Polio Day!
World Polio Day is a time for Rotarians all over the world to raise awareness about our efforts to eradicate polio for good. Join us by hosting an event in your community. Not sure what to do for World Polio Day? Here are a few ideas:
The Cameron Rotary Club will hold their annual Spaghetti Supper on Friday, September 27, 2019 before the Cameron vs. Troy Football Game. Dine-In or Take-Out Plates are available at the Yoe High School Cafeteria from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The meal includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread, dessert, and tea. Tickets are $8.00 each and may be purchased from any Cameron Rotarian.
Rotary Club of Austin & Killeen host another military family in Austin through Operation Vacation. PFC Cisneros and his wife and children were hosted at the AT&T Conference Center fora fun, complimentary weekend  in Austin to thank the family for their service. The hotel hosted their room and meals and provided them a safe environment for them to spend quality time together and explore Austin. The County Line is hosting their bbq dinner Saturday with all the trimmings and the kids will get to feed the turtles, fish and swans.  Sunday they will have a chance to play games and eat pizza at Austin Parks N Pizza. This project is sponsored by Austin & Killeen Rotary, Killeen Toyota, Austin Hotel Lodging  Association, County Line, Visit Austin.
